Maarten Jansen is a postdoctoral researcher at Radboudumc, working on health priority setting, resource allocation and health benefit package design. His work focuses on strengthening evidence-informed and legitimate decision-making in health policy, with particular attention to stakeholder and community perspectives.
His research centres on Evidence-Informed Deliberative Processes (EDPs) and related approaches for structuring complex priority-setting decisions. He studies how evidence, explicit decision criteria and stakeholder deliberation can be combined to support transparent and context-sensitive resource allocation. His applied work includes health benefit package development and priority-setting processes in countries including Rwanda, Kenya and Pakistan.
With more than ten years of experience in global health and health policy, he has worked with governments, WHO teams and international partners on priority setting and evidence-informed decision-making. He spent nearly five years as a consultant with WHO, supporting country processes in immunization and malaria, including vaccine prioritization and the CAPACITI programme. His work combines academic research with practical policy support, stakeholder engagement and capacity strengthening.
